Privacy Policy
How TriviaBeam handles host accounts, quiz boards and guest game sessions.
The service
TriviaBeam is an independent browser application for preparing quiz boards and hosting games. The service domain is triviabeam.com. Questions about this notice can be sent to support@triviabeam.com.
Hosts and Google sign-in
Hosts sign in with Google. We receive the Google account identifier, name, email address, verification status and profile image made available through sign-in. We use these details to identify your account, save your boards and authorize hosting. We do not ask you to create or share a Google password. Session cookies keep you signed in. Google processes sign-in information under its own privacy policy.
Guest players
Players can join without a Google account. A game session uses a chosen team name and a browser credential to recognize the team after a refresh. Answers, points and participation events are processed to run the game. Team names and scores can appear on the room display; the host can review submitted answers. Choose a nickname and avoid putting personal or sensitive information in a team name or answer. Anyone given a room code may be able to view the room, so hosts should share codes only with their intended audience.
Boards, images and results
We store boards, categories, clues, answers, fun facts and settings when a host saves them. Images a host attaches to a clue are stored in our media storage and served through a long random link so that players' phones and the room display can load them without signing in; anyone who has that link can open the image, so upload only pictures you are entitled to share. When a game ends we save its final standings (team names, scores, number of clues played) to the host's dashboard. Private boards are never published as public templates.
Infrastructure and operational records
Cloudflare provides the application runtime, database, live room storage and media storage. Requests may include IP addresses, timestamps and browser information. Operational error records help investigate failed joins or saves. Do not include passwords or sensitive personal information in quiz content. Application code should not log session credentials or full player answers for routine troubleshooting.
Product analytics
We measure how people move through TriviaBeam with our own first-party records, not third-party advertising trackers. Page views are also counted with Plausible, loaded from our analytics host at ff.880009.xyz. That script does not set an advertising cookie and does not receive clue text, answers, team names, or payment details. A random visitor identifier is kept in a first-party cookie (tb_aid) and in your browser's local storage. We record a small number of steps: landing on the site, opening the board builder, pricing or join page, clicking sign in or upgrade, creating an account, saving a board, opening a room, starting and finishing a game, a team joining, a room reaching its team limit, and payments. Each record holds the step name, the page path, the time, a site version label, your account id if signed in, and the first-visit source (UTM tags or referring website). We do not record clue text, answers, team names, emails or payment card details in these records. The records are used to improve the product and are kept for up to 24 months. You can clear the identifier at any time by deleting site data in your browser.
Payments
Paid plans are processed by Stripe, which may act as the merchant of record and calculate sales tax. When you upgrade, Stripe receives your email address and the payment details you enter on its checkout page; TriviaBeam never sees or stores your full card number. We keep the plan, status, amounts, billing period and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers needed to provide your plan. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the information it processes.
Retention and choices
Saved boards remain associated with the host account until removed. Live room data is subject to the room expiry policy; removing a board revokes access to its associated rooms. Backup copies may remain for the infrastructure provider's recovery period. Hosts can manage their saved boards and account from the application. Guests can leave a game and remove site data in their browser; doing so may prevent recovery of the same team session. Browser deletion does not itself remove the host's saved results.
Children and hosted activities
An adult organizer should supervise classroom and youth activities. Player Google sign-in is not required. Hosts should use team nicknames and avoid collecting children's contact information through clues or answers.
